[Espionage thrillers] Various later printings. Octavos. A group of five novels (one hardcover), comprising The Spy Who Came In From The Cold, The Achilles Affair, The Night-comers, A Grue of Ice and One of Our Submarines. Clean copies. Close to fine throughout (the hardback has traces of a bookplate to pastedown and some inked numbers to copyright). As a journalist for The Sunday Times, the James Bond novelist Ian Fleming reviewed numerous books including this group of five thrillers by spy writers John Le Carre, Berkely Mather, Eric Ambler, Geoffrey Jenkins and Edward Young. Each of these editions reprint part of his original review on their covers. This group is from the comprehensive archive assembled by Jon Gilbert (pencil signature within). His comprehensive guide to the works of Ian Fleming (2012) won the 16th Breslauer Prize for bibliography.
