Selten, wie alle Bilderbücher des Künstlers. - Bruno Munari (1907-1998) begann als futuristischer Maler, arbeitete als Industrie-Designer, konstruierte berühmte Mobiles und Spielzeug. - "In Sammlerkreisen ist er so etwas wie ein Geheimtipp: der Italiener Bruno Munari, 1907 in Mailand geboren und 1998 dort gestorben. Nach seinen Kunststudium war er zunächst als futuristischer Maler tätig, doch bald setzte sich der Drang zur Bewegung in seinen künstlerischen Elementen durch. Er begann Mobiles und Spielzeug zu konstruieren. 1945 war das entscheidende Jahr, in denen der Mailänder Verlag Mondadori gleich fünf Bilderbücher von Munari herausbrachte, in denen er seine Geschicklichkeit im Spiel mit den Buchseiten unter Beweis stellte. Von seinen zehn Bilderbüchern kamen in den Jahren zwischen 1957 und 1959 acht anglo-amerikanische Nachdrucke heraus. Und seine ab 1949 erschienenen "Libri Illegibili" (Unlesbare Bücher) brachten ihm 1958 Anerkennung durch die Goldene Medaille der Triennale Milano" (P. Laub, Spielbilderbücher S. 28). - "Dieser Künstler hat ab 1945 das Bilderbuch erneut zum Gegenstand experimenteller Umgangsweisen mit dem Medium "Buch" gemacht. In seinen Büchern (vor allem der Reihe "I Libri Munari", alle bei Mondadori) konnten die damals vielleicht erstaunten kindlichen oder erwachsenen Benützer allerlei Türchen und Fenster öffnen und auf- und ausklappen, es gibt viele Überraschungen und komische und (damals) ungewohnte Effekte - in einem Wort: das Buch wird zum Objekt, an dem man sich aktiv betätigt.
