This NF first format (gilt lettering outlined in black on front cover, plain front cover, plain end pages) book is a first edition, listing only to "Purring Egg" (1926). The exterior is beautiful: square and very clean, with a lightly bumped lower front corner and no edge dings; head and heel of spine are lightly bumped with no fabric damage (see photo); spine has several dots of color loss. The interior is pristine: it is completely free of writing, stray marks, stains and page damage; it looks almost as though it was never opened! Paper is lightly toned and very flexible; hinges are strong and frontis + 3 is intact. The VG- jacket is uniformly darkened, with several minor chips on the head of the spine, a slightly larger one at the bottom of the front panel, and a 3/4" x 1-1/2" chunk at the bottom of the spine which also takes a part of the front panel (see photo); then there is a 1-1/2" tear up the front gutter from that chunk, a tear which then cuts all the way across the spine and finally ends in a fold across the bottom of the rear panel (see photo).
