London, A. and C. Black, Ltd., 1924. Quarto, two volumes, xii, 307 and iv, 371 pages with numerous illustrations plus a gravure frontispiece in each volume. Publisher's quarter red morocco and cloth, the spines lettered and decorated in gilt in compartments, top edges gilt; cloth a little unevenly coloured (perhaps endemic); an excellent set. Provenance: [Sir] Edward Wheewall Holden (1885-1947), the influential motor-body builder whose business became a household name. His armorial bookplate is mounted on the front pastedown of each volume (along with the small paper label of the contemporary Adelaide bookseller F.W. Preece). [2 items]. Minor pencil marking to front free end-paper. Some occasional mild cracking to gutters throughout, binding remains reasonably firm. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Mild crushing to spine ends. Cloth has minor damp and dust stains. Book has a slight forward lean.
