She was converted from a troopship, originally bring troops to Europe, to a hospital ship, serving in the Gallipoli campaign Niagara hospital ship, Suez canal. Photograph of the Niagara in dock with soldiers and ambulance. The ship was requisitioned from the Anglo American Nile Company and used in the Eastern Mediterranean theatre during the war.
