Xilografia originale (cm. 45,5x29,5 più ampi margini bianchi) impressa su carta vergellata. Splendida coloritura antica. Esemplare in ottimo stato di conservazione. Si tratta di una versione ridotta della celebre mappa tolemaica di Martin Waldsemüller del 1513. La prima edizione della Geografia di Tolomeo curata da Laurent Fries fu pubblicata a Strasburgo nel 1522. La seconda edizione - in cui a questa carta furono aggiunte le 12 teste di vento che circondano la rappresentazione del mondo antico - fu stampata a Lione dai fratelli Melchior e Gaspar Trechsel. Il titolo, qui assente, è invece presente solo nella terza edizione di Vienna del 1541. Cfr.
