Approx 5.8 x 13 inches to plate edge and approx 9 x 16 inches with full measurement of the card, arched design, original card with the George Baxter stamp just seen at lower left corner, some foxing to the sky area, colours still good, unframed original card creased and worn at edges, print not creased, would frame well. *One of the most desirable of the Baxter "Oil based ink" process engravings. Each colour overlayed above and alongside the other to build up a colour image with precise letterpress skills by the printer. Dates to 1851-2 the year the Great Exhibition opened. Wiki source: " Despite his technical excellence and the general popularity of his prints, Baxter's business was never profitable ? his process was laborious and it seems likely that his perfectionism prevented him from completing many of his commissioned works on time".
