Quarto, [vi], 89 pages with numerous line illustrations by Jane Robinson ('based on the collection of cave art by the author') and 39 full-page illustrations reproducing the author's superb photographs. Cloth slightly flecked; a near-fine copy with the lightly marked dustwrapper. 'These sensitive studies are neither tourist poses nor anthropological records' (dustwrapper blurb). The title page is inscribed and signed 'To Olga Hardy with much regards from the Author, Charles P. Mountford'. We know of Olga Hardy only as the author of 'Like a Bird on the Wing. The Story of Luise Homann' (1984). However, we have discovered an online reference to an interview by Keith Travers Borrow in 2011 'with Olga Hardy regarding her association as an artist with C.P.
