The works in paper, begun in early 1979, represent not only an innovation in the use of paper pulp and other natural materials as a painterly medium, but also a new and profound apprehension of human existence as the fundamental issue of art. Born in Hungary, Batuz was forced from his native country by the horrors of World War II and spent several years in refugee camps. After emigrating with his family to Argentina in 1949, the self-taught painter devoted himself to art and the study of philosophy. His home and studio at Villa Gesell, where he worked in isolation for several years, evertically became a vital focus of artistic and intellectual activity in Argentina. Sehr gutes Ex. - Texte deutsch / engl. - Seit annähernd fünfzig Jahren arbeite ich an der "Interrelation of Forms", womit ich einen Beitrag für die Bildenden Künste leistete. 1984 gründete ich die Societe Imaginaire, um diese Idee auf alle Gebiete der Geisteswiss…enschaften zu übertragen. 1993 habe ich das Working Center in Altzella gegründet, um die in allen diesen Jahren gewonnenen Erkenntnisse in der Praxis umzusetzen. In "no mas fronteras" wende ich alle die oben erwähnten Erfahrungen in ihrer Gesamtheit an, um an den Konflikt-Grenzen, wo auch immer sie sich in der Welt befinden, zu einem tieferen Verständnis unter den Völkern beizutragen. Ich erwarte von den Lesern keine uneingeschränkte Zustimmung, jedoch eine große Aufmerksamkeit beim Lesen, damit sich jeder des Begriffs der Grenze bewußt wird und darüber nachdenkt, wie man gemeinsam und kreativ dieses wichtige Problem unserer Zeit lösen kann. Seit unvordenklichen Zeiten hat der Mensch um sich herum Schutzmauern und Hindernisse errichtet, um sein Habitat und seine Kultur von anderen abzugrenzen. Diese Grenzen waren vermutlich sowohl nach innen als auch nach außen gerichtet und konnten entweder einer defensiven oder aggressiven Funktion dienen. Immer waren diese Grenzen aber zugleich Orte und Ausgangspunkte für Konflikte und kriegerische Auseinandersetzungen. Im Verlaufe der Jahrhunderte hat sich der Begriff der Grenze gewandelt und relativiert. In der frühen Vergangenheit war den Menschen nur ihre unmittelbare Grenze wichtig und zugänglich. Heute, im Zeitalter der Globalisierung und Hochtechnologie, sind die Grenzen einerseits perfekt gesichert, andererseits aber sind sie durch die totale Kommunikation auch transparent geworden. (Durch die Illustrationen auf beiden Seiten möchte ich nicht nur den Text veranschaulichen, sondern uns gleichzeitig die vielfältigen Bedeutungen des Begriffs Grenze bewußt machen. Von der Chinesischen Mauer zu Kleingärten, vom Limes über die Maginotlinie bis hin zu einer zerbrochenen Schieferplatte eines Gehwegs in Potsdam. Oder auf die Ähnlichkeit eines mit Asphalt gefüllten Risses einer Straße in Uruguay zu den endlosen Stacheldrahtzäunen des Eisernen Vorhangs aufmerksam machen.)
