The compilers include a catalogue of set of medals and their holdings, and grant particular credence to such significant figures as George Washington, Horatio Gates, John Paul Jones, and Benjamin Franklin. The whole concludes with a leaf from Joseph Florimund Loubat's 19th-century Medallic History of the United States of America, in this copy showing the impression of Franklin. Then follows reference notes, an index, and 57 plates. Bound in full orange morocco with gilt-stamped crossed swords to upper cover and leather spine label. Fine. Housed in dropback box.
