In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Good. THERE ARE NO TARIFFS OR CUSTOMS DUTIES ON BOOKS. Subtitled 'A Fairy Tale of Home', this little book is in three parts, titled 'Chirp the First', 'Chirp the Second' and 'Chirp the Third', each containing a part of the developing story which ends in a joyful dance involving all the (typically Dickensian-named) characters. Here are Mrs Peerybingle, Miss Slowboy, Mr Tackleton - and Dot, Tilly, and John, not to mention the Carrier, the Blind Girl, and Caleb. Published as one of a pair of uniform Dickens volumes illustrated by C. E. Brock, this would make a perfect gift for any Dickens enthusiast. Charles John Huffam Dickens (1812â?"1870) was an English novelist, journalist, short story writer & social critic. He created some of literature's best-known fictional characters, and is regarded by many as the greatest novelist of the Victorian era. His works enjoyed unprecedented popularity during his lifetime and, by the 20th century, critics and scholars had recognised him as a literary genius. His novels and short stories are widely read today.Charles Edmund Brock (1870â?"1938) was a widely published English painter, line artist and book illustrator, who signed most of his work C. E. Brock. He was the eldest of four artist brothers, including Henry Matthew Brock, also an illustrator. Our book is in very nice condition for its age, protected by the original pink dust jacket, itself protected in a clear plastic cover, and showing almost no signs of age apart from some fading to the spine, and a small chip to the top rear spine angle. The book itself, bound in intensely green cloth with a gilt tree on the front and title etc in gilt on the spine, is in 'very good' condition externally, and inside is firmly bound with clean, bright pages, eight full-page colour illustrations, and nine other illustrations in the text. Title page printed in black and red within a charming border of household items. Ink-written birthday greeting on front fep.
