With wonderful hand-coloured wood block illustrations by British artist, Ann Brunskill (a printmaker, in the "livre d'artiste" style, who originated The Worlds End Press in 1971). Printed in a small edition (this being #91 of 120 copies) set in Bembo 24 point, printed on a Lion Hand Press. Signed by the artist on the limitation page.

A complete set of 13 loose illustrated cards with biographies of participating craftspeople including musical instrument makers, jewellery designers, book-binders, etc. Produced to accompany Man-made, a residency at the Victoria and Albert Museum from 29th to 31st December 1976. Each card illustrates an object in the Museum selected by one of the participants, relating it to their own work. Also includes tri-fold event guide (designed by Michael Martin and printed by The Soman-Wherry Press, Norwich, for the V&A), listing the artists: lutemaker Stephen Gottlieb, book-binder Adrian Pasotti, wood engraver John Lawrence, etcher and hand-made book designer Ann Brunskill, calligrapher Ann Hechle, glyptic artist Nik Lambrinides, jeweller Matthew Tomalin, potter Ray Silverman, tapestry weaver Archie Brennan, ecclesiastical embroiderer Jennifer Boyd-Carpenter, handweaver and spinner Barbara Mullins, lace-makers Kathleen Riley, Margaret Susans (and students), and embroiderer Diana Springall. Also includes other Victoria & Albert event brochures: Linda Parry's 'William Morris: Designs for Printed Textiles' (1978) and Jean Hamilton's 'Twentieth Century Wallpaper' (c.1978). Good condition.

After producing a portfolio of plates titled 'Aphrodite', Brunskill purchased a nineteenth century Lion platen press built for Frederick Ulmer. 'The Romaunt of the Rose' was the second book printed on the press, with type composition by Edward Ash. The poem was started in French by Guillaume de Loris in 1237 and translated by Chaucer shortly thereafter. Edition limited to 75 copies, with an original double page etching signed by the artist, 290mm x 410mm, 54 pages printed on De Wint handmade paper, edges uncut, blind blocked frontis, vibrant pictorial boards; a fine copy.

First edition; No. 5 of 75 copies, signed by Ann Brunskill; and one of 25 with seven original etchings.
