Text has very light marking in pencil with only marked pages found. For its age the text is still in good condition. Frontispiece of Shakespeare has moderate foxing. includes "a history of the stage, a life of the poet, and an introduction to each play: the text of the plays corrected by the manuscript emendations contained in the recently discovered folio of 1632. Edmund Spenser (c. 1552 - 1599) was an English poet best known for The Faerie Queene, an epic poem and fantastical allegory celebrating the Tudor dynasty and Elizabeth I. He is recognized as one of the premier craftsmen of nascent Modern English verse, and he is considered one of the great poets in the English language. John Payne Collier (1789 - 1883) was an English writer and scholar. He was well known for publishing many books on Shakespeare.
