The black lettering on the spine is nicely bright. The covers are in excellent shape. The cover edges and corners are free of rubbing. The book is very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. The interior of the book is in terrific shape. The pages are exceptionally clean. I didn't see any soiling anywhere. It didn't see any creasing either. There are no markings. No attachments. And the author's signed inscription is the only writing to be found anywhere in the book. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It has a little tear off the front top edge, no loss. There are no other tears. There is a little crease at the top corner of the rear cover with a speck of white showing, and there's also a little scratch on the rear cover. At fault in American perceptions is a pervasive, compelling, but distorted vision of the Third World state as beleaguered modernizer in the United States as manager of modernization. As a result, counterinsurgency involvements have been undertaken blind, without a clear measure of the prospects for victory in any given case.
