Jacket toned and worn at edges, title written in pen on spine panel. Gibert advertisements on rear panel and flaps, business name and address (26-30 Boulevard Saint-Michel, Paris) on front panel. Library label and borrowing pocket on the front free endpaper and there are tape marks running down the fornt and rear free endpapers. Library stamp to the copyright page and there is a crease to one top corner and a few spots and marks in places but the pages are otherwise generally unmarked. Jacket has tape marks and some creasing to the flaps but is otherwise nice and bright. First printing.

There is also a dedication (To Doris and Cecil, July 4 1937) to the ffep in the author's handwriting. A nautical adventure in which mystery after mystery follow the passengers of the "Wulf", and stewardess Lizzie Collins who has returned to the ship. (she was a recurring character in some of Laurie-Long's novels). Ernest Laurie-Long was a prolific author, mostly of navy and nautical themed adventures. Condition: This copy is in very good condition for age. There is some fading to the spine and rubbing to the boards, light foxing to the prelims and page edges but otherwise the book is in good solid shape. Signed by Author(s).

This copy is almost 100 years old, has been well taken care of and is in fine condition. Its construction is unlike most of the poorly made book club editions. The buckram covered boards, high quality paper and matching top stain add up to a handsome edition possibly as desirable and rare as the first edition. The text block is solid, clean and square. Pictorial endpapers are clear of markings with small previous owner's bookplate under front flap. Spine tight, boards rigid and tips pointed. Slight push to spine ends. There is no book club deboss on the rear cover. The jacket is in very good minus condition and has some closed tearing along backstrip seams and chipping/loss at spine ends and some edges. It looks sleek in a shiny new plastic cover. Shipping box is suitable for wrapping with a non-price listed purchase order inside along with biodegradable packing.
