For the UNinitiated, Wipers was soldier talk for Ypres. Censorshop rules meant that all entries were made in coded language. The magazines mandate was toamuse , so humour abounds. For instance, a lectire is advertised fir Town Hall, Plug Street, on page 91 - it is to be give by Mrs. Intha Pink. Later there is a Mesopotamian Alphabet that offers thar `P' os for Postal officials who each week fail to deliver more than half our mail. A serious notice notes the departure of Mobbs, Compton and De La LFontaine. It means, but doesn't say : Deaths. READ more about : Dead Cow Theatre, zizzler, Red Cross badge, Cockles Tumley, Somme-Times, and Messines district. All tongue in cheek. Cond : Boards are brown with black lettering. White end-papers.
