Hardcover. Zustand: VG+. First UK Edition. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, blue cloth boards show very light handling wear, mainly a few scuffs and soiling spots, there's a small scratch the top of the front board and spine is very mildly faded. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No signatures or personal bookplates, no library markings, no remainder marks. The only evidence of handwriting found is in the upper right corner of the front end page, where you could just barely see where a price was once penciled and then later erased. Text pages are clean but the end pages show a few slight fingerprint marks and toning.

Black and white photographic plates throughout. Slight cracking to gutters causing binding to be loose, however pages remain attached. Pages and plates have light tanning and foxing throughout. Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Slight crushing to spine ends. Paper residue to front board. Tape marks to both boards. Unclipped jacket has moderate edgewear with chips, tears, and creasing. Water staining to edges. Light tanning to spine and edges.

From 1940-1947, he served as a patrol officer and protector of Aborigines under the Native Affairs Branch of the Northern Territory, coming to the job with more than 20 years experience with the tribes.
