Original black cloth, stamped "EE" at lower right corner of front cover. Very good condition. [Prague]: Edice Expedice, 1975. (Book 51 of the Edice Expedice series.). An anthology in two parts, compiled by poet and dissident Ivan Jirous (1944-2011) and transcribed and signed by Czech dissident and activist Olga Havlová (1933-1996), who was also the first wife of Václav Havel, the last President of Czechoslovakia and the first President of the Czech Republic. During the Communist regime, Olga organized numerous meetings of dissidents and distributed manuscripts. Jirous was the artistic director of The Plastic People of the Universe. The Edice Expedice was a samizdat series of independent literature, philosophy, poetry, and drama, founded in 1975 by Václav Havel and Dana Horáková, and was one of the most important samizdat ventures publishing at the time. Upon Havel's imprisonment in 1979, he transferred control of publishing activities to his wife, Olga, and his brother, Ivan Havel, both of whom were arrested in 1981 when a French caravan containing exile literature and printing technology was seized at the border. This samizdat anthology is one of the final books published before Edice Expedice took a two-year hiatus following Ivan and Olga's arrests. This volume comprises two separate works. The first part, first published in 1975, is a tribute to the dissident writer Egon Bondy by his "invalid siblings": written and visual poetry and other contributions by poets, writers, musicians, and other notable figures Petr Lampl, Jindrich Procházka, Nadezda Plísková, Jaroslav Korán, Andrej Stankovic, Svatopluk Karásek, Vratislav Brabenec, Vera Jirousová, Jirí Danícek, Frantisek Pánek, Karel Soukup, Josef Vondruska, Stanislav Klecandr, Milan Dino Vopálka, and DG 307. The second part, also originally published in 1975, pays tribute to the poet Petr Lampl with contributions from Egon Bondy, Prodházka, Plísková, Korán, Stankovic, Eugen Brikcius, Karásek, Brabenec, Jirousová, Danicek, Pánek, Vratislav Quido Machulka, Soukup, Josef Bobes Rössler, Jan "Black Sahara" Hedl, and DG 307.
