Or Is It? considers the legacy of the readymade in contemporary artistic practice as the form approaches its 100th anniversary and attempts to recuperate the radicality of Duchamp's foundational gesture. Taking stock of the readymade's simple materiality and its economy of means, this catalogue includes work by 18 artists working in a variety of media from sculpture to photography, painting, video and installation-based works. It Is What It Is. Or Is It? includes works by Ellen Altfest, Fayçal Baghriche, Bill Bollinger, William Cordova, Latifa Echakhch, Daphne Fitzpatrick, Claire Fontaine, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Rachel Hecker, Jamie Isenstein, Luis Jacob, Patrick Killoran, Jirí Kovanda, Klara Lidén, Catherine Murphy and Pratchaya Phinthong.

Hardcover. Zustand: new. Hardcover. Re/Form is an ambitious new monograph by artist Brendan Fernandes. Re/Form chronicles Fernandes recent exhibitions, "Contract and Release" at The Isamu Noguchi Museum, Long Island City, NY and, "The Master and Form" at The Graham Foundation, Chicago, IL and the 2019 Whitney Biennial, New York, NY. Both projects explored notions of discipline, mastery, and architecture to disrupt and recombine ballet and modern dance traditions. Together, they represented a decisive moment in Fernande's practice that is archived and celebrated in this publication. Fernandes's projects address issues of race, queer culture, migration, protest and other forms of collective movement in order to create spaces of solidarity. Paperback. Zustand: New. The most substantive monograph yet published on the work of German-born, New York based multimedia artist Andrea Geyer (born 1971), Dance in a Future with All Present focuses on her recent explorations of the marginalized yet pivotal role that women have played in the formulation of American modernism, tracing and honoring the ephemeral acts, initiatives and stories that shaped it. Featuring full-color images of Geyer's artworks and research materials, including documents, found photographs and previously unpublished photographs by the artist, Dance in a Future with All Present offers insight into Geyer's art and the multiple histories of modernism. Contributors to this volume include Thomas J. Lax, Andre Lepecki, Soyoung Yoon, Andrianna Campbell, Alhena Katsof, Matthew Jeffrey, Juli Carson, Lynne Cooke, Barbara Clausen, Dean Daderko, Saisha Grayson, Sharon Hayes, Megan Heuer, Danielle Jackson, Kristan Kennedy, Ralph Lemon, Renate Lorenz, Josiah McElheny, Fred Moten, Kristin Poor, Yvonne Rainer, Gabriela Rangel and Jeannine Tang.
Paperback. Zustand: new. Paperback. An in-depth survey of the sculptural and performance-based installation by the internationally recognized artistThis publication is an intimate exploration of Brendan Fernandes's installation and performance Inaction and the film Free Fall for Camera, which were co-presented by the Ezra and Cecile Zilkha Gallery at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, United States and the Richmond Art Gallery in British Columbia, Canada. It creates a richly illustrated archive of the project by bringing together photographic documentation, architectural drawings, an original dance score, essays, and a conversation between the artist, featured dancers and the exhibition curators. The choreographies in Inaction are based on children's games like hide-and-seek, follow-the-leader, and other forms of call-and-response. This publication will engage these concepts using the movement of the pages as an extension of its graphic design. More so, Inaction explores the political capacity of notions like movement and stillness, wherein dance is considered a tool for collective understanding. Brendan Fernandes (b. 1979, Nairobi, Kenya) is an internationally recognized Canadian artist working at the intersection of dance and visual arts. His projects have shown at the 2019 Whitney Biennial (New York); the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (New York); the Museum of Modern Art (New York); The Getty Museum (Los Angeles); the National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa); MAC (Montreal); among a great many others. He is currently Assistant Professor at Northwestern University and represented by Monique Meloche Gallery in Chicago. Notable projects include performances and solo presentations at the Noguchi Museum, New York, NY; The Richmond Art Gallery, Richmond, BC; The National Gallery of Canada and recent commissions with The Barnes Foundation, Philadelphia; The DR Vocal Ensemble, Copenhagen, Denmark and a new dance performance with Munch Museum, Oslo, Norway.
