However, there are watermarks to the cloth at the top and bottom of the spine and immediate surrounding area, not affecting the book internally in any way (see images). Binding sound, no inscriptions. Dustjacket is in poor condition, being very shelfworn with creasing, tears and some areas of loss. One of a limited, hand-numbered edition of 750, this is no. 594. Small quarto (260 x 200 mm), 86 pages. Printed and stencilled at the Curwen Press, Plaistow. Bennett s short story is accompanied by vibrant colour pochoir plates, stencilled by the American artist and graphic designer, Edward McKnight Kauffer, who is best known for his poster art work. Some sunning to spine, with some light marks to cloth covered boards in places. Page edges are untrimmed, endpapers are a little toned, but content and illustrations are clean and bright throughout. Comes complete with the original balck slip case, title label at spine is a little faded, with some marks and scuffs to edges. Both are in very good condition indeed.…

McKnight Kauffer, produced at The Curwen Press by a stencil process which gives them a depth and brilliance. Cream boards, very slightly soiled to edges, front free endpaper has had top sixth removed, endpapers browned otherwise a very clean and fresh copy in very worn original protective wrapper that lacks most of spine and the whole is housed in a black slipcase with paper title, slightly worn and rubbed to extremities.…
