Buch Erstausgabe
Hardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Near Fine. Jacket by Clare Ward, photos after the author and Annie Leibowitz (illustrator). 1st Edition. First edition, first impression with full number line. Some very slight edge wear to top and bottom of jacket and spine, not price clipped (£20.00), no inscriptions, internally clean tight and square, overall a vg+ copy. 304pp, lavishly illustrated. For the nearly seven decades of her reign, Her Majesty The late Queen had used clothing to create a powerful visual identity that transcends fashion and had made her perhaps the most readily identifiable person on the planet. Angela Kelly, building on the work of the great designers and milliners who have worked with Her Majesty through the years, including couturiers Sir Norman Hartnell, Sir Hardy Amies, and Ian Thomas, and milliners such as Simone Mirman and Freddy Fox, brought her own imagination to bear on an iconic uniform that suggested continuity and tradition, and ensures that the wearer was always the most visible person in a room or a crowd. Mary Angela Kelly, CVO (b.1957), daughter of a dock worker and a nurse, is a British fashion designer, dressmaker, and milliner, who served as friend, Personal Assistant and Senior Dresser to Queen Elizabeth II from 1993 until the monarch's death in 2022. Her official title was Personal Assistant, Adviser and Curator to Her Majesty The Queen (Jewellery, Insignias and Wardrobe). When her employer died in 2022, she was forced to leave her grace and favour Windsor home to start a new life in the Peak District. Quite a scarce book.

Hardcover. Zustand: Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Near Fine. 1st Edition. 4to. Orig. cream cloth. 245 pp. Fully illustrated in colour. Remainder mark to tail edge. Light rubbing to extremities of dust jacket, else fine. Pilgrimage took Annie Leibowitz to places she could explore with no agenda, She wasn't on assignment. She chose the subjects simply because they meant something to her. The first place was Emily Dickinson's house in Amherst, MA, which Leibowitz visited with a small digital camera. A few months later, she went with her three young children to Niagara Falls. She added the houses of Virginia Woolf and Charles Darwin in the English countryside and Sigmund Freud's final home, in London, but most of the places on the list were American. The final list of subjects is perhaps a bit eccentric, and also features photos of Gettysburg, Monticello, and the homes of other significant writers, artists, politicians, and more.
