Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 'Bank for International Settlements: Documents' is a foundational collection of primary records detailing the establishment and early organizational structure of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). Emerging from the economic challenges of the post-World War I era, this compilation provides critical insight into the creation of the world's oldest international financial institution. The work includes essential statutes, trust agreements, and official protocols that shaped the framework for global monetary cooperation.Compiled by Melvin A. Traylor, a key figure in the bank's formation, these documents highlight the shift toward multilateral financial governance during the early 20th century. The collection addresses the urgent need for a 'central bank for central banks' to manage international settlements and promote stability across borders during a period of significant economic upheaval. Readers will find detailed accounts of the bank's legal mandate, its role in handling reparations, and its objectives regarding international credit. As a primary source, 'Bank for International Settlements: Documents' remains a vital resource for historians, economists, and legal scholars interested in the evolution of the global financial system and the origins of modern international economic diplomacy. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
