Vintage script for the 1967 off-Broadway comedy play, which premiered at the New Theatre in New York on October 10, 1967, running for a successful 692 performances. With editorial annotations in manuscript pencil throughout, and with two typescript pages laid in, discussing plot points in the play. The first play by noted novelist Bruce Jay Friedman, about a white man who finds his purportedly liberal beliefs challenged when his wife runs off with a Black scuba diver during a vacation on the French Riviera. According to contemporary sources, "Scuba Duba" was slated to be adapted for the screen by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, with Nunnally Johnson attached to the project, but ultimately the film never materialized. Green titled Studio Duplicating Service wrappers, with credit for playwright Friedman. Title page present, undated, with credit for Friedman and the stamp of producer Sam Gelfman. 60 leaves, with last page of text numbered 2-2-32. Mimeograph duplication, rectos only.
