Since its creation, Semio-text(e) has been a place of stimulating dialogue between artists and philosophers, and for the past fifty years, much of American artistic and intellectual life has depended on it. Grau (1928-2016) war 1939-44 Schüler von Johann Drobek in Breslau und erhielt nach dem Krieg entscheidende künstlerische Anregungen durch Julius Bissier. Von 1946-53 studierte er an der Stuttgarter Akademie bei Willi Baumeister und absolvierte zusätzlich von 1950-55 ein Violinstudium an der Stuttgarter Musikhochschule.
