Tatsächlich verfügt die Bundesrepublik nur über etwa 48 Betten in Spe zialabteilungen für Brandverletzte. Diese sind fast ausschließlich von den Berufsgenossen schaften erstellt worden, decken aber nicht einmal ein Drittel des Bedarfs, nämlich für gesetzlich versicherte Arbeits-und Wegeunfälle.
