Hayter founded, and still runs, the famous Atelier 17 in Paris. Here, since 1927, artists from all parts of the world, including such great names as Picasso, Miró, Dalí, Matta, Max Ernst, Chagall, and Masson, have worked together, using, and in some cases inventing, the techniques described and illustrated in the book.
