An important collection of essays on biblical interpretation by one of the leading scholars of our day. Paul Ricouer was philosopher and theologian in the University of Chicago where he was successor to Paul Tillich, and in the Faculty of Arts at ,Paris-Nanterre. " Lewis S. Mudge attempts to provide the reader with a coherent overview of my writings. It is precisely this attempt which requires my heartily felt thanks, because I am unable to draw such a sketch on my own. Mudge brings to the forefront the category of testimony. I found this interpretation very illuminating for my own self understanding. By picking this category, Mudge shows how some of the problems which I discussed at different times and within different frameworks may be regrouped in some few constellations." Gray textured or faux-leather boards with brilliant silver lettering on spine. Tight binding (NO cracks); sharp corners (NO curls or bumps); NO remainder marks. Clean text, Dustwrapper did its job--only flaw is previous owner name and purchase date at top right ffep. Brown dustwrapper not price-clipped ($12.50) title lettering in white across top front cover, above Contributors' list in smaller black letters, above editor name lettering in white; large eye-dazzling circular illustration of man's profile in alternating sky blue and black repetition, for 360 degrees, on lower 2/3 front cover; spine sunned to diminished brown, but all lettering in white and black still sharp and distinct, eminently readable; some wear across spine ends and nugatory wear at corners: all these peccadilloes have been backed by Archival tape and dustwrapper now in Brodart mylar which graciously forgives. Solid copy, looking little read, if at all, in that unusual, lovely gray leather or faux-leather binding. The way to read a Classic in this ostensibly little-explored field.…
