Erstausgabe
First edition (limited to 300 copies). Quarto-size paperback original in a sewn binding. Some light brown discolouring around the edges of the front wrapper, along with a small closed tear, and a small light 1" stain at the bottom fore-edge corner, otherwise very good in stitched wrappers as issued. Printed in two-colour ink, with a tipped on frontispiece portrait of the Drury Lane actor Joseph Miller (1684-1738) as "Teague". Miller became a figure associated with old-time joke books, so much that a "Joe Miller" became a term for a time-worn jest. Four of these Roxburghe Club keepsakes were edited by Schmulowitz (some to give to friends and other Roxburghe Club members): SCOWAH is a coined word for "Schumulowitz's Collection of Wit & Humour".
