El campo de la terapia de una sola sesión (SST) se está expandiendo rápidamente, ya que cada vez más personas utilizan sesiones únicas en clínicas, organismos públicos de salud, consultorios privados, enlaces de consulta en hospitales, entrevistas para una segunda opinión y demostraciones clínicas. La SST es esencialmente un sistema de entrega, no una escuela específica ni un enfoque teórico. La evidencia más significativa que apoya la adopción de un enfoque de terapia breve son los datos: un gran número de clientes asiste a una sola sesión, esté planeada o no. Este hecho tiene una profunda implicación para todos los enfoques de la terapia y por ello la SST es un modelo contextual, una práctica que se esfuerza por activar los propios recursos de los clientes. Este libro abarca el dilema de cómo brindar la oportunidad de que una sola sesión sea suficiente y, al mismo tiempo, ofrecer opciones de atención y apoyo continuos.
