Paperback. Zustand: Very Good+. First Edition. The Rare Withdrawn Issue. This first edition with Clifton Pugh's official portrait on the front cover cropped to a circular format (with the subject's hands protruding) was withdrawn from sale after the artist objected to the designer's alteration of his work. Pugh threatened legal action over the unauthorised use of his painting and this issue was withdrawn. It was re-issued with a cover showing a photograph of Gough. With previous owners name on first page, index, a very good copy. ; 215 x 140mm; [vi], 374 pages.
Clifton Pugh (illustrator). Rare withdrawn issue in excellent condition. very slight wear at bottom of spine. Inscribed by Gough Whitlam in ball point with his rather untidy writing. This paperback version features the withdrawn cover by Clifton Pugh who objected to the unauthorised alteration to his famous portrait of the Prime Minister.
