Foster Damon. December 25, 1917." Also featuring the work of E. Estlin [E. E.] Cummings, J. R. Dos Passos, Robert Hillyer, R. S. Mitchell, William A. Norris, Dudley Poore, and Cuthbert Wright. [vi], 118 pp. Bound in publisher's green-gray paper-covered boards over gray spine cloth, title stamped in maroon to spine and front board. Near Fine with slight lean to spine and softening at head and tail, light wear and soiling to covers, and tear to paper at upper right corner of front board. Contents lightly toned. The first book appearance of E. E. Cummings, who contributed eight poems, printed in a run of just 500 copies (Firmage A1). Damon and Cummings were part of the group known as the Harvard Aesthetes, which included John Dos Passos and Robert Hillyer. The new graduates grew in pin feathers of a different kind the same year this collection was published. The United States entered the First World War, and Damon went to work in an airplane factory while the other three drove ambulances in Europe. Cummings would turn the experience into his second published book, The Enormous Room. Signed.…
