Profusely illustra…ted throughout with 16 black and white plates, including a tissue-guarded portrait frontispiece of The Rev. C. L. Dodgson, from Herkomer's (posthumous) portrait in Christ Church Hall, Oxford, made in 1899. ***Near fine in blue cloth-covered boards with gilt titles to the spine. The gilt is still nice and bright, having been protected by the dustwrapper. The boards are clean and unmarked, the spine just slightly faded. No bumps or creases. Corners sharp. No reading lean to the binding. Spine tight. Internally also near fine, with no inscriptions. No foxing. Pages clean. It appears that none of the pages remain uncut (some copies of this book have uncut pages). No creases or tears. ***In a very good plain printed dustwrapper, which has not been price-clipped, retaining the original publisher's printed price of 42s. net. The dustwrapper is largely complete, with just small areas of loss at the top of the spine and top corner tips. The spine is also darkened with age. However, there are no serious chips, creases or tears. Dustwrapper clean. ***336 pages including two indexes to the rear - Index I (General) and Index II - First words and (in italics) titles of Minor Literary Carrolliana (chiefly verse). 227mm x 150mm. ***Contents: Preface, Introductory Notes, Method of description, Addenda and Corrigenda, PART I. A list, with notes, of all pieces and editions printed or issued by Dodgson, during his lifetime (1845-98), in order of date; PART II.
